Brett has over 25 years of health care consulting experience. Before founding Legacy, he was a Health Care Practice Partner with Tatum. For six years, he was a Senior Health Care Advisor with Health Care Futures and prior to that he was a Principal in the health care consulting practice of Kurt Salmon Associates.

Mr. Turner’s areas of expertise include strategic planning mergers and acquisitions, physician-hospital business ventures, service line planning, and retreat facilitation for health care clients. Brett is a speaker at national and state professional associations, including the Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development, Ohio Hospital Association, Association of Iowa Hospitals and Health Systems, Georgia Hospital Association, and the American Association of Medical Staff Development. A frequent author, he has written articles for Trustee Magazine, Medical Staff Development Report, Hospitals & Health Networks, Insight Magazine, Health Care Strategic Management, and Health Care Management Review.

Brett received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa and a Master of Science in Health Care Administration from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas.






Kathy Versemann is a consultant with Legacy Healthcare Consultants, LLC. She can be reached at kversemann@legacy-health.com.

Kathy has more than twelve years experience in the health care and nonprofit industry. Before joining Legacy, Kathy was a manager at Clifton Gunderson LLP where she provided implementation planning and project management on conversions to MIP nonprofit software. She was also a consultant with Health Care Futures, LP. Her experiences there included financial and market feasibility analyses related to proposed mergers, acquisitions and joint venturing. She also coordinated analyses related to strategic planning. Prior to that, Kathy was a Senior Analyst for Sherman Hospital in Elgin, Illinois for three years where she championed the implementation of an automated payroll system. Project responsibilities included analysis of cost justifications, system integration, report requirements and programming changes. Prior to that, she held a Senior Auditor position with KPMG Peat Marwick LLP’s health care audit group.

Kathy earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting at Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana. She is a Certified Public Accountant..

Heather has in-depth experience in both hospital management and health care consulting. Prior to joining Legacy, Heather was the Director of Strategic Planning at St. Francis Hospital & Health Center (now MetroSouth Medical Center) in Blue Island, IL, a full-service medical facility known for its nationally recognized Cardiology Program and part of the SSM Health Care System. In this position, Heather led the development of the hospital’s comprehensive strategic plan, from taking an active role in the creation of a Certificate of Need (CON) for a new acute care hospital in a nearby suburb, to addressing the individual strategic goals of every department in the hospital and aiding its Directors in achieving those goals and realizing tangible results. Prior to her work with St. Francis, Heather was a Business Associate with Health Care Futures, L.P. There, she supported the consulting process throughout the entire evolution of planning assignments at-hand to include extensive analytical work, senior management and physician interviews, document creation, and meeting facilitation.

Heather earned a Master of Science degree in Geography from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, IL, with an emphasis on economic location theory and how it relates to the healthcare industry, including the usage and patient satisfaction of rural versus urban healthcare in downstate Illinois. Heather also earned both a Certificate in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, IL.
